Occupation |
Cook [1] |
- 1: Marion worked as a Cook in the Manamead area of Plymouth before her first marriage, (where her Aunt, Kate Amelia and Uncle, Richard Bettinson were witnesses).
2: In the late 1960's Marion trained to be a Cook/Supervisor for Cornwood Primary School. She worked at this job for many years, and was loved by all the children of the village as she would spoil them with her cooking skills. For this she is known throughout the village still as 'Auntie Marion' to a whole generation of people.
3: Marion also worked for many years working for Mrs. Parker at Delamore House, Cornwood, and for Mr. and Mrs. Steve Mudge of Glebe House, Cornwood and then his daughter Mrs. Barbara Thomas. This was history repeating itself as her Grandfather Henry had been a Coachman working at the same house many years previously.

Notes |
- Marion and Bill Blackshaw lived at Rooke Cottage (part of the Delamore Estate) for many years. The Cottage was on the opposite side of the road from West Rooke Farm where her father Charles had occupancy; daughter Gwendoline was born there in 1961. The family later moved to Delamore Gardens, on the road from Cornwood village towards Lutton. Following Bill's death in 1993, Marion moved to live in Ford Cottage which is at the end of Cornwood Inn car park. In the Spring of 2001 Marion moved to a purpose built retirement home at Church Park, Cornwood. This retirement home had previously been the home of Ida Willcocks, her father's second wife.
