Notes |
- Norman and Pam lived at Springfield Dairy in Lutton when they first were married. Then they went to live at Vicarage Bridge Cottage, Cornwood, which was part of the Blatchford estate and was a 'tied cottage. This is where the family remained until 1971. Norman and Pam then took on the tenancy of 'Smallridge Cottage' another tied cottage but this time part of the Delamore estate. Norman died there in 1983. [1]
- Norman served an apprenticeship with Freddy Phillips of Plympton. He helped to build a lot of the new homes in the Elburton area in the late 1930's. He would ride a bicycle to get to his place of work.
- Following his national service Norman went back to complete his apprenticeship with Freddy Phillips. Following this was employed on the Blatchford Estate, working for Major Frederic Passey, and then his son Cyril.
- In February 1971 Norman and his wife took over the running the family milk business round for the Cornwood and Lutton area from his father Charles. They did this until 1982 when ill health enforced Norman's early retirement.
