Bobby came to the Kokomo Country Club in 1939 from Indianapolis where he was assistant to Jimmy Lawson at the Indianapolis Country Club. He succeeded Charles Higgs, who resigned the Kokomo job because of ill health. He came to the USA in 1930, his first American job being assistant pro at Lake Mahopac, N.J. Then he went to Detroit where he was assistant pro for five years at the Clinton Valley County Club. His tenure at the Kokomo club was interrupted for three years of duty with the U. S. Air Force during World War II. He resumed his duties as pro at Kokomo in 1946. Genial and likeable, he was popular with everyone who knew him. He was one of the longest driving professionals in Indiana and was widely regarded as one of the finest teachers of the game in the state.

Funeral services for Bob Grant, Kokomo Country Club golf pro, will be at 10 a.m. (CST) Tuesday, in the Ellers Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Harry H. Walrond officiating. Burial in Sunset Memory Gardens will be private. Friends will be received at the chapel from 6 to 10 p.m. today and from noon until 10 p.m. Monday. Mr. Grant was a member of the Elks Lodge, American Legion Post No. 6 and the Professional Golfers Assn. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Mary(?)* Grant, Indianapolis; a stepson; three brothers and one sister living in Scotland.

Mr. Grant's friends over Indiana were shocked at the news of his death, and numerous tributes to him were received here. Al Roche, golf writer for the Indianapolis Star, wrote, "Grant was some 250 pounds of fun. I referred to him as 'King Kong' because if you liked to see a ball sent way out yonder from the tee, Sir Robert was one of the guys who could entertain in that fashion. When the Indiana Professional Golfers Assn. opens its spring meeting Monday in Indianapolis, Bob's booming voice will be missing when the singing starts and we all will miss him too."
